The Thang: Today's workout consisted of 3 exercises at 45 seconds on, 15 seconds of rest with a walk/jog lap around the church. We repeated this 4 times total. My tabata timer decided to add its' own sound effects and would 'woohoo' at the beginning of the exercise, 'yeehaw' halfway through, and then applause when we were done. It made for a lot of laughs and I think pumped us up a bit more for our workout. 

Warm-up was yoga, with arms up, we bent at the waist into a forward bend. Then we did a wide leg forward bend, walking our arms over from right to left. Then we did triangle pose on each side and back to our wide leg forward bend. 

 Round 1 exercises: 

  • press backs
  • bicep curls
  • shoulder press 
  • walk/jog a lap around the church

Round 2 exercises:

  • Russian twists (optional with weight)
  • little baby crunches (LBCs)
  • raggedy Anns
  • walk/jog a lap around the church

Round 3 exercises 

  • bridge step-outs
  • table toe-taps (right or left side first)
  • table toe-taps (other side)
  • walk/jog a lap around the church

Round 4 exercises

  • curtsy squats
  • lunges
  • speed skaters
  • walk/jog lap around the church

 

Our cool down started with child's pose and moved into thread-the-needle on each side. We resolved this with more child's pose and pushed up into downward facing dog. We did some calf stretches and then hip circles, then concluded with child's pose. 

All in all, we had a fun workout! The ladies' laughter at the crazy tabata sounds was just what I needed this morning to make for a light and happy day. Yipee-ki-yay ladies!
