The Thang -

Murph is a workout that is frequently used in a variety of fitness communities to honor and pay tribute to Lt. Michael Murphy, a Seal, who paid the ultimate price for American freedom, and demonstrated an unparalleled fearlessness and selflessness that is not only admirable, but hard to imagine for most of us here.  It's so important for us to make time to remember sacrifices like his, and that the blessings we all take for granted on a daily basis would not be possible without brave men and women like Lt. Murphy.

Traditionally, Murph consists of a 1 mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, and 300 squats, followed by another 1 mile run.  FiA Lenoir County decided to split this workload up over 2 modified workouts. So at the Woodshed at 5 AM, 9 PAX completed 50 rows, 100 push ups, 150 squats, partitioned among a 1 mile ruck, and at 5:30 pm the same workout was completed at the Battlegound.  Green Thumb, Elevate, & Streaker finished the workout on their own because they couldn't make the 5:30 pm workout, and Capt. Camo, The Force, Warrior, Breakout, and 757 completed the full workload at the afternoon workout.  In addition to 8 women completing our modified Murph on Memorial Day, we had 2 FNGs, Freebird & Spark join us for the very first time!

What an incredible day it was, having the opportunity to represent FiA Lenoir County while honoring the fallen ones who have paid the price for our freedom.  We hope that Murph on Memorial Day becomes a tradition we uphold with FiA LC for years to come!
